Backup camera

After installing the backup camera which was very easy to install i started the truck and put in reverse to see if the camera works. Yes, it did work. Now you can see however, it's not a 4k quality. The picture is in color but a faded color. Almost a 720 dpi.
It reminds me of an old CRT Monitor. It's like the picture has a rounded effect or stretched affect. I'm glad I can see backing up again just wish the picture was a lot better quality. Still gave a 4 star because everything was in the package delivery was good and the ease of install. The materials of the camera looked like great quality. Just wish the camera lens was better quality. This also had a good price point versus 200 dollars at the dealership.

Absolutely not a plug and play part.

First camera lasted 3 months

I replaced the original camera in my 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 with the Master Tailgaters OEM replacement at the end of June 2024. I was pleased with the image of the new camera. However, 3 months later the camera quit working. Original purchase was through Amazon and to replace camera under warranty, I had to contact Master Tailgaters directly. Not a big deal but I had to purchase a new camera (and pay for shipping) and send the original camera back to them at my cost. Once the camera was returned to them in California, I was refunded the cost of the camera. So, I was out of pocket in the amount of $75 to cover the shipping.
The back up camera image is quite good when it works. Hopefully I will get more than 3 months out of the new one.
I would have given a higher rating if my shipping charges were covered as part of the warranty.
